Racism in international politics
Posted by: | CommentsHow can the leader of an entire country make such a statement? Not to mention that NONE of the major news organizations are covering it. What would happen if this situation was changed slightly, say with a different country’s leader that happened to be Caucasian, and the accused race changed to anything other than Caucasian.

Posted by: | CommentsWe now live in a world where the President of the United States is at least part black, or African American if we are being “politically correct”. I hate being politically correct. If we still live in a country where we are always going to segregate ourselves by classifying each other as African American, Pacific Islanders, Latinos, etc, we will always be discriminatory of others of different heritage. And the President has taken a lot of criticism for being black, and has even had his birth certificate put into question, mostly because there are still enough people in the United States who are not comfortable with having a black President. Racism is perpetuated mostly by the very people who claim to have been discriminated against the most. They want the distinctions of being called African American, and having an entire month of the year dedicated to celebrating their heritage. Great. Good for them. The only problem with that is that it’s still not enough to make them feel like we’re even-steven for all the things that the white people did to them many years ago during the times of slavery. And now the President has given them hope that they can be anything they want to be because a black man has risen to the top. Why deify him just because he’s black (half black to be exact)? Why not praise him when he’s deserving of the praise? He’s been in office 50 days and hasn’t lived up to his promises yet.
The point I’m making is that having a way to set yourself apart and say you’re different just because of your heritage is what keeps racism alive in this country. Caucasian Americans don’t have their own heritage month.
And you can bet Caucasian Americans don’t get minority scholarships.
But why don’t they? They are just as much a minority in this country as African Americans and Pacific Islanders and Hispanics are.
Caucasian Americans everywhere should be screaming, “where is my Caucasian American Heritage month”??
Or we could all just call ourselves “AMERICAN”…
