The Two Faces of Barack Obama

One for the masses, one for the power elite

by Justin Raimondo, April 06, 2009
http://original.antiwar.com/justin/2009/04/05/the-two-faces-of-barack-obama/

The news from Europe, if you listen to our infatuated media, is that the Euros love President Obama: according to the American reportage, his recent trip there was a cavalcade of photo-ops, cheering crowds, and hugs from the queen of England. Even the French were in awe of him! However, if you look beneath the surface, not that far beneath the gloss and the glam there runs a current of irritation, and, dare I say it, resentment.

Take, for example, his stop in the Czech Republic, where he declared that he was seeking a nuclear-free world – that is, a world free of nuclear weapons. This is a goal the United States has a special moral responsibility to seek, he averred, because we are the only nation that has actually used these weapons. The crowd loved it. What they didn’t at all love, however, was his announcement that

“‘As long as the threat from Iran persists, we will go forward with a missile defense system that is cost-effective and proven. Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile activity poses a real threat, not just to the United States, but to Iran’s neighbors and our allies.’”

“The governments of the Czech Republic and Poland, he added, are ‘courageous’ for ‘agreeing to host a defense against these missiles.’”

One supposes it takes a fair amount of courage to defy the wishes of your own people and obey the dictates of a foreign power, albeit not the sort of courage appreciated by Obama’s audience. As the London Telegraph put it:

“The crowd enthusiastically cheered the more idealistic parts of Mr. Obama’s speech but was relatively subdued when he spoke about his backing for missile defense.

“Petr Sramek, 33, was among those disappointed that Mr. Obama had not dropped a policy that was opposed by more than two thirds of Czechs. ‘I really liked the clear message on nuclear disarmament but I am against the missile defense system. It is more about geopolitical influence then defense against missiles.’

“Arena Protivinska, 30, described herself as a ‘big fan’ of Mr. Obama but accused him of ‘hypocrisy’ for urging world peace while also pushing forward with the missile shield. ‘He sounded like George W Bush saying that we should be afraid in order to justify missile defense.’”

Like Americans, the Europeans want to believe – but they see the two faces of Barack Obama too clearly, and the contrast is too apparent to be denied. The gullible Americans, who take things at face value, still believe their new president represents a real change, a challenge to the status quo, while the more sophisticated Europeans are quick to pick up on Obama’s inconsistencies – made all the more glaring by his habit of pairing two mutually contradictory stances on the same issue.

This includes not only coupling missile “defense” in Eastern Europe with the prospect of a nuclear-free world, but also the recent launching of his “Af-Pak” initiative. Although dressed up as a diplomatic offensive, this is essentially a military offensive aimed at widening the war in Afghanistan to include portions of Pakistan.

The administration and its media lapdogs portrayed the Af-Pak rollout as a definitive break with the bad old days of the Bush White House, when it was all about troop movements. The new regime, we’re told, will initiate substantial diplomatic and humanitarian aid efforts, notably an effort to reach out to dissident elements of the Taliban. However, the real core of the Af-Pak strategy is a radical escalation of the military element, in effect an Afghan “surge” spilling over into Pakistan’s tribal areas: it means the addition of some 21,000 soldiers to U.S. forces, with the prospect of more to come.

The Janus-faced American hegemon speaks out of both sides of his mouth, and in two voices: one for the masses, who delight in his soaring idealism and seeming ability to express their deepest aspirations, and one for the elites, who hear a promise of continuity rather than change.

This two-track narrative framed even his Prague declamation of a nuclear-free world. According to a top White House aide, we are not to take this idea all that seriously:

“Gary Samore, a White House adviser on arms control, indicated that Mr. Obama’s call for ridding the world of nuclear weapons should not be taken too literally. ‘In terms of a nuclear-free world, we recognize this is not a near-term possibility,’ he said. Rather, the call was an attempt to ’seize the moral high ground’ in order to increase pressure on countries such as North Korea and Iran.”

Obama giveth with one hand, and taketh away with another – smiling that oil-slick grin the whole time. Although I agree with the sentiments of the Czech woman cited above, the Obama method goes way beyond mere hypocrisy. It is a conscious technique of inverting the true meaning and intent of his policies.

Thus, his launching of an intensified military campaign in Central Asia is portrayed as an effort to “stabilize” the region. His provocation against Russia in Eastern Europe is paired with a call to abolish nuclear weapons. And, of course, this ploy carries over into the domestic arena, as well, where – in the process of giving certain favored sectors of the financial industry trillions in subsidies – he has launched a campaign against “corporate greed” and outrageously extravagant executive salaries and perks. He rails against corporate irresponsibility, yet he has appointed to his administration the very corporate insiders who got us into this mess in the first place.

Obama ran for president as the spokesman for the underdog – the little guy just managing to make ends meet, whose volunteerism and contributions over the Internet catapulted the Illinois senator into the running. Yet the reality is that Obama was corporate America’s candidate from the very beginning, and they showed it by lavishly financing his campaign: the money emanating from Goldman Sachs was quite impressive, and, together with the DNC, Wall Street buried the Republicans, who were outspent by three-to-one [.pdf] (and out of gas in any event). Unsurprisingly, the top echelons of the president’s economic team are filled with former Goldman Sachs officials – and, not coincidentally, that firm is the primary beneficiary of the AIG/bank bailout.

The ruling elites of this country, confronted by the specter of a rising populist anger, have found in President Obama a subtle and skillful anger-management expert. For years they’ve been frustrated in Washington, as their efforts to fight a spreading war met increasing resistance from the American people. Divine Providence smiled down on them, however, as Obama suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Here was an “antiwar” candidate who said we’ve been fighting the wrong war all along – and, upon taking office, immediately rectified that by sending 21,000 more troops to the wilds of Central Asia.

What a godsend to the War Party Barack Obama is! As he moves toward confrontations with Iran, Russia, and Pakistan, and continues to unnecessarily irritate China, Asia’s sleeping giant, the media portray him as the Great Peacemaker. As the mask slips, however, and the reality becomes all too apparent, how will his “progressive” supporters react? Will they rise in protest, or sign on to Obama’s war?

Stay tuned to this space for the answer…

America’s small farmers are under attack through a series of bills presented under the guise of “food safety.” I don’t want to lose my freedom to grow, buy and eat real foods. Let’s fight for our small farmers who not only need our protection and support, but actual freeing from government intrusion, control and harm. This also means you will need the permission of federal government to grow a garden! Rosa Delaura of Connecticut is behind this bill, and big surprise–her husband is working for Monsanto.

If only we had legislators in our country that could tell things like they really are. The USA is very much like England in that we owe tons more than we produce and that we are economically weak. It is time to demand real change, restore constitutional government and end The Federal Reserve private centralized banking system. It is time to return to a Gold Standard and stop devaluing the US Dollar by creating more and more un-backed money.

Last but not least, it is time to make obama and all of our elected officials obey the constitution that they swore to uphold and defend. Democrats and Republicans are both corrupt and DO NOT have the well being of our country in their best interest. They repeatedly DO NOT follow the constitution and pass unconstitutional bills/laws. The present and former presidents do think twice about signing these unconstitutional things into law. Allowing unconstitutional laws to come to life causes the degredation of our liberties and freedoms. Whether or not people want to admit it, our country is heading into a fascist police state led by a tyrannic BIG government. I have yet to see a mainstream media outlet report on the bills that just passed in the house and senate that open up the doorways for MANDATORY SERVICE to our country. This is real and almost signed into law. You, your friends, your children, and other family members could be FORCED to serve the country for a fixed period of time. This is not and never was the intention of our founding fathers–in fact this type of government is exactly what they opposed and separated from.

AIG is supposedly looking to overhaul their name…you know…that three character acronym has been a bad word in recent news. A piece of poop is still a piece of poop, even with a new name. Why is this company even standing anymore? Socialist obama is keeping them propped up–not for the good of our country, but because they lined (and probably still continue to line) his pockets.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29834658/

The Obama Deception is a hard-hitting film that completely destroys the myth that Barack Obama is working for the best interests of the American people. The Obama phenomenon is a hoax carefully crafted by the captains of the New World Order. He is being pushed as savior in an attempt to con the American people into accepting global slavery. We have reached a critical juncture in the New World Order’s plans. and only by exposing the con can we help to save freedom in America. The Obama Deception is not about Left or Right: it’s about a One World Government. The international banks plan to loot the people of the United States and turn them into slaves on a Global Plantation. Covered in this film: who Obama works for, what lies he has told, and his real agenda, and how his initial appointments and actions prove he serves the corporate oligarchs, not the American people. If you want to know the facts and cut through all the hype, this is the film for you.

Congress just keeps signing more and more bills into law that will keep the national deficit way above anything we’ll ever be able to pay off in our lifetimes. And Congress is supposed to be the voice of the people it represents. So who was speaking for me when they decided to write the bill that puts our country 9 Trillion dollars deeper into debt??? And why is it that a country with a Free-Market can even do that to its people?

Where is my voice? Who is taking my concerns to the President of the United States and making it known that I’m 100% displeased with this decision? No one. The reason is because Congress doesn’t care what the people want. Congress thinks that the average Joe is too stupid to know what is good for them, therefore, they vote legislation into law that we have no control or say over. And we end up losing more and more of our tax dollars to stupid legislation. Nevermind that members of Congress have the leisure of Air Force owned jets to fly all over the country at their own discretion, ie. Nancy Pelosi…all financed with our tax dollars.

I WANT MY TAX MONEY BACK!!!!

I want to be able to use my hard-earned money to use where I see fit. I’m tired of financing major corporations that get bailouts because they can’t stay afloat!!! Why should that be MY problem? If I can’t pay my own mortgage, who’s going to bail me out? And I already lost several thousands of dollars in my 401k this year, not to mention my company ISN’T matching our 401k this year because of the idiotic bailout plan that went into action. The entire market is coming down because of this stupidity. Or better yet, if I owned my own business and I wasn’t able to make a profit, would the government bail me out? Nope. And the reason is because my small business wouldn’t be lining Congressional pockets or doing them any favors.

For those of us who are hard-working tax payers who didn’t ask to bailout these corporations, we should have a voice. We should have a say in where our money goes. We shouldn’t have to put up with Congress (who’s not looking out for what’s best for the American People, but for a few corporations who may have scratched their backs) making bad decisions that we will end up paying for. Those elected officials have wronged us!

I am tired of sitting back and watching the IRS compound more and more taxes on the American people. I get taxed on almost everything I do. There’s tax for owning a home, owning a vehicle, taxes on food, gas, clothing, you get taxed on phone usage, flushing the toilet (which is a double tax because you’re taxed on what goes in your body, and then what comes out)! I’m tired of taxes!!!

But since we all have to pay taxes regardless of how I feel about it, here’s an idea…Why not be able to choose where my tax dollars go??? Much like the 401k plan works, you should be able to choose which programs you want to benefit from your tax dollars. Give me the option of paying for state-funded prisoners to eat for free and use the internet and get law degrees while they’re serving their time. Give me the option of spending my tax dollars helping out major corporations that would just get bought out by larger ones if they went down in flames. Give me the option of funding highway cleanup crews. Give me the option of funding other such nonsense which is running rampant in our country…and then I’ll be a much happier Citizen.

Until then, I WANT MY TAX DOLLARS BACK!!!

Obama Screws Veterans

Hi ass holes, I’m b. obama. I just wanted to pass along a little bit of info CNN wrote about me. Don’t get excited, I didn’t say “Hope” or “Change” at any time. I know, disappointing. What would you do without those words?

Anyway, I was just writing to let you know that I really don’t give a flying fuck about Veterans in this country. I mean, after all, I’m not one of them. No sirs! I was busy getting a college education at Harvard. Yup, I can sure relate to you middle class folks. I know how tough it can be for you sometimes. But for those of you who served in the military, I cannot relate. So, fuck you. I say it with a smile on my face. Seriously, just because you were injured, maimed, or had something else terrible happen to you during your service to this country doesn’t entitle you to anything. It especially does not entitle you to a second thought from me.
What? You didn’t see this coming? How in the hell not? Don’t you idiots remember one of my first military snubs? Oh c’mon, it was the night I took office for Christ’s sake! I was invited to the Medal Of Honor recipient innaugural ball. I was the first commander in chief in over 50 years to snub those lazy pricks. I heard a few of those guys had jumped on grenades to save the lives of their buddies. Sounds like another cheap sob story to me. So fuck ‘em!

That leads me to what I want to do now. This one is hilarious. I want Veterans to pay for their own medical care via their own private insurance. You see, I’m not really sure what the hell I’m doing in office. I’m winging it. I’ve gotten a whole slew of morons to think I’m the messiah, but truthfully, I have no idea what the hell’s going on. So, I figured I’d mix it up and say things like, “We can save money here by spending more money here.” People believe it, so why not? I’m worth a few million, not like I’ll be hurting if the economy tanks. So the plan is, if you get a leg cut off in the middle of a firefight or something (like I care), you just go see a doctor, pay a copay and they’ll let you be seen. See? Isn’t that nice? Just don’t forget to pay your ridiculous monthly premiums. I don’t know why they have those. I get my medical care for free. And everything else for the next for years. That only gives me enough time to save up around $2 Million dollars. What a rough life.

lol

To all my army dudes or whatever, I hope you don’t mind my plan. It’ll be better in the longrun. I really don’t know how, but the only way I can make AIG pay for it’s crimes (just kidding, I’d never hold the truly guilty people accountable) is by fucking you every which way I can! It is for the better, and you will thank me!

Oh yeah, how could I forget? Here’s a link to the article CNN wrote about me:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/10/veterans.health.insurance/index.html

And in case you’re feeling too lazy to click a link:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance.

But the proposal would be “dead on arrival” if it’s sent to Congress, Sen. Patty Murray, D-Washington, said.

Murray used that blunt terminology when she told Shinseki that the idea would not be acceptable and would be rejected if formally proposed. Her remarks came during a hearing before the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs about the 2010 budget.

No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama voicing their opposition to the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration.

The groups also cited an increase in “third-party collections” estimated in the 2010 budget proposal — something they said could be achieved only if the Veterans Administration started billing for service-related injuries.

Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under “consideration.”

“A final decision hasn’t been made yet,” he said.

Currently, veterans’ private insurance is charged only when they receive health care from the VA for medical issues that are not related to service injuries, like getting the flu.

Charging for service-related injuries would violate “a sacred trust,” Veterans of Foreign Wars spokesman Joe Davis said. Davis said the move would risk private health care for veterans and their families by potentially maxing out benefits paying for costly war injury treatments.

A second senator, North Carolina Republican Richard Burr, said he agreed that the idea should not go forward.

“I think you will give that up” as a revenue stream if it is included in this April’s budget, Burr said.

Murray said she’d already discussed her concerns with the secretary the previous week.

“I believe that veterans with service-connected injuries have already paid by putting their lives on the line,” Murray said in her remarks. “I don’t think we should nickel and dime them for their care.”

Eleven of the most prominent veterans organizations have been lobbying Congress to oppose the idea. In the letter sent last week to the president, the groups warned that the idea “is wholly unacceptable and a total abrogation of our government’s moral and legal responsibility to the men and women who have sacrificed so much.”

The groups included The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

At the time, a White House spokesman would neither confirm nor deny the option was being considered.

WAKE UP FOLKS.

Right now, you and I are seeing the worst plundering of a nation’s wealth in the history of civilization – all led by the out of control Federal Reserve.

If you and I don’t act today, I’m afraid this crisis will end with the economic ruin of every man, woman and child in the United States.

Just think about the scope of the problem for a minute: The Fed pumps trillions of dollars in fiat currency into a system already overloaded by the massive amount of dollars committed to the economic bailouts in recent months.

This TOTALS:
More than the socialist New Deal…
More than the entire Iraq debacle…
More than the 1980’s savings and loan mess…
More than the Korean War…

COMBINED.

Where will it all end?

It’s time you and I put a stop to an out of control Federal Reserve. And Ron Paul has a bill before Congress to do just that. That’s why it’s vital you fill out your personal “Audit the Fed” petition in support of Congressman Paul’s bill.

Today, $9.7 TRILLION in taxpayer dollars in bailouts and loans have been agreed to by Congress, the Bush and Obama Treasury Departments, and the Federal Reserve. Poll after poll shows the American people are fed up and are ready for fresh leadership to make their voices heard in Washington.

That means it’s a perfect time to unleash a revolution on the out of control Fed!

Please complete this petition urging your Congressman to cosponsor and a seek roll-call vote on Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed Bill — the first step toward ENDING THE FEDERAL RESERVE once and for all!

As I know (or hope) you’re aware, the Federal Reserve’s inner-workings are shrouded in secrecy, and their meetings are off-limits to the public. Just recently, the Federal Reserve told Congress “NO WAY” when asked to account for TWO TRILLION DOLLARS in taxpayer-backed loans!

Well, why do you think they refused?

They know coming clean with Congress and the American people on how they doled out those two TRILLION dollars would result in an anti-Fed firestorm.

So can you imagine the impact of a full-scale audit?

You and I will finally be able to show the American people that the Federal Reserve System leads to:

*** Constant economic crises — the housing crisis and the resulting chaos is just one example of an economic bubble created by centrally-planned interest rates and money manipulation;

*** The destruction of the middle class – as fuel, food, housing, medical care and education costs soar, everyone who is NOT on the government dole is forced to make do with less as the value of their money slowly decreases;

*** Currency destruction — history shows us that riots, violence and full-scale police states can result when people finally realize fiat money isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on and REFUSE to accept it.

And unless you and I do end the madness in Washington, D.C., we may be closer than we’d like to think to learning that history lesson first hand — right here on the streets of our towns and cities. That’s why your commitment to helping the Campaign for Liberty fight this battle is so vital.

Just a few months ago, there was no chance of passing any legislation like Ron Paul’s Audit-the-Fed Bill. So I guess there has been one “CHANGE.” But with the piling up of trillions of dollars in out of control “bailouts” of Wall Street and international bankers, even many politicians in Washington, D.C. want to show you they’re “being responsible”.

What better way for Congress to do this than by auditing the Federal Reserve to account for the trillions stolen from the U.S. taxpayers?

There will be many battles you and I must fight over the coming months to take back our country. But this one is set to rage in Congress in just a few short weeks. And, it’s a bill we CAN pass!

You see, after regulating, taxing, spending, borrowing and printing us into what looks like the worst recession in decades, establishment politicians and power brokers are assuring us they are working hard to “fix” our economic woes.

So they want to do something (anything) to show you they care. That’s why Dr. Paul’s bill is positioned to move forward this year.

And since very few politicians understand the Federal Reserve System, they do not understand the threat this bill poses to the borrow-and-spend system they continually vote for.

Please visit this website to have a petition automatically generated and sent to your representative.

screw obama

I wrote this last month (links have decided to stop working):

Some of you may think I’ve turned a little psycho over the recent turn of events… specifically, a useless chud being elected into the white house. I HATE politics. I really, truly do. They piss me off more than you can possibly imagine. For the past, what, 2 years? All we’ve heard about is obama, clinton, and a little bit about McCain, and even less about Ron Paul. obama and clinton EVERYTHING. Since I read the news a lot, I read pretty much everything that came up about them. They both irritated the piss out of me. So what do I do when something aggravates me? I research it. And so far, everything I’ve seen is EMPTY.

I assure you, I’m the same person I’ve always been. I’m not turning into a political crackpot. I’m merely taking lots and lots of notes. I for one don’t want to be one of the sheep pulling hearsay out of my ass to back what I have to say.

I’m not one easily swayed by a cute little message in a dress. If you’ve read my previous blogs, perhaps a couple of my bulletins about obama, you probably get the hint that I see him for what he really is. If you don’t, I’m sorry. I just find it tragically ironic that the anorexic looking fellow with the giant head (surely it got that way from his ego) is echoing failed policies and continuing to preach FEAR.

Let’s look at this again, shall we?

The first link is from a friend:

The End Is Near, Pass My Bill!

And a small quote from the article:

“… obama said Monday that “only government” can shake the country out of recession, as he tried to settle doubts
about his administration’s costly economic recovery package during a prime-time press conference. obama
painted a bleak picture of the state of the economy as he described
scenes “across America” in which job-seekers are standing in long lines
for scarce opportunities at employment. He pointed to such scenes as proof the country is in a “full-blown
crisis” and needs a drastic government response. The ……….. warned that a failure to act could “turn a crisis into
a catastrophe,” and urged lawmakers to get a bill to his desk without delay.”(The word “president” is removed because I will not acknowledge him as such)
And more:CATASTROPHEYou know what’s funny? The people who complained about this kind of tactic with Bush’s policy against terrorists are supporting obama’s fear tactics. Listen to him for God’s sake… “ONLY GOVERNMENT CAN SHAKE THE COUNTRY OUT OF RECESSION.” Only the government, eh? So, I suppose they can only do everything else as well. Do you people want to know what is really ass-chapping? So many people pissed and moaned and cried like babies over the Patriot Act. How much of your life has been affected by this? Airport security became a severe annoyance for a while, but it’s leveled out. Other than that, I don’t feel as though my privacy has in any way been taken advantage of.
Now, you have obama openly forcing government down everyone’s throats. People welcome it with open arms because of his EMPTY bullshit message of change. The only change I see so far is pouring salt into the wounds of the people who actually do the work in this country. What saddens me is that people are absolutely blind to what he’s doing. They’re blind to what happened over the past 8 years.Just read the comments:Someone Uses Common Sense, Gets Bashed Over Political AffiliationHell, look at the article itself. Lawrence Summers is blaming “those who presided over the past either years…” Are you kidding me? Alleged political experts, people who should be “in the know” are STILL BLAMING BUSH. And then you have all the comments on the bottom. Uppity democrats saying things like “good riddance” to the Republican party and calling them snobby, rich, elitists. Really? Didn’t obama go to Harvard? For someone so educated, he should really try to figure out what the hell he’s doing. These people have no bloody idea what it is they want. But I could be totally wrong… I mean, cher supports obama:Cher’s Take On Republicans
Maybe cher (who has PLENTY of money, go figure) hates republicans because we believe that people should earn what they have, as opposed to getting handouts. Minority or not, if you don’t want to work for a living, get the hell out of my country. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why people who don’t want to work will vote democrat. It’s no surprise that enlisted military tend to be Republican. It’s because they don’t feel ENTITLED.
If obama wants to HELP this country, he should start by looking here:FIAT ECONOMYAnd then maybe he should look here:Nixon’s Screw UpDoesn’t really take much time to figure it out. It blows my mind that someone who is getting paid $400,000 a year, gets everything for free, has lots and lots of advisors who are experts in their fields, can’t figure out a simple concept like this.
It seems everyone else knows but him:Unemplyment Will Increase With StimulusHoly Hell, common sense! Not that!YES WE CAN! ……get you stupid Americans on your knees and screw you every way we can because you’re all sheep.
